February 2010

Assist and conduct educational programs in home horticulture and natural history for adults and families. Topics may include insects, snakes and birds, as well as herb gardening, garden design, butterfly gardening, and flower arranging. Assist in leading 3-mile hikes in The Preserve at Callaway Gardens. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is seeking college students and graduating/rising high school seniors for an excellent opportunity at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center in Mansfield, GA. The primary responsibility during this paid internship is to assist with and lead activities for our Wild Summer Days camps and overnight camps. Apply by March 19, 2010.
Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites are hiring seasonal interpreters to conduct public programs this summer. Interpreters will lead nature hikes or guided walks, conduct campfire programs, present live animal programs and coordinate recreational activitites. May 2010

Provide support for the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream, Rivers Alive and Project WET programs within the Watershed Protection Branch of DNR's Environmental Protection Division. This is an hourly position, no benefits, 6 -9 months in duration, up to 40 hours a week. Some travel is necessary. Apply from now until May 1, 2010.

Cochran Mill Nature Center is looking for contract teachers to help facilitate our environmental education mission. Our small staff is looking for teachers for field trips, birthday parties, and scout programs.
Develop, implement, and supervise all Junior Naturalist Day Camp programs and Junior Naturalist Day Camp staff at Cochran Mill Nature Center. Operates under the guidance of Executive Director and Education Coordinator.
The goal of the Informal Education Internship is to provide a pre-professional, experiential learning opportunity for students interested in environmental conservation, informal education, and communication. Interns will receive on-grounds training in interpretive techniques and relevant animal information. Upon completion of training, interns will be responsible for providing presentations focusing on conservation action and awareness to Zoo guests at a variety of locations and activities around Zoo grounds. Beyond gaining valuable work experience as an informal educator, interns will also have the opportunity to network within one of the world’s most respected zoological and conservation organizations.
Inspire young people through experiential outdoor learning at one of the largest environmental education programs in the nation. Live and work at Wahsega 4-H Center in the beautiful Chattahoochee National Forest just minutes from the Appalachian Trail, cascading waterfalls and numerous other recreational opportunities. Applications for spring and fall positions are accepted year-round.
Do you like working outside and have an interest in teaching children elementary and middle school students? Fortson 4-H Center is located 30 miles outside of Atlanta on 77 acres of forest, field, pond, and wetlands. It is a wonderful, intimate setting for teaching kids about the environment!
Responsibilities include teaching, facilitating meals, working on projects to improve program resources and the physical site, being positive role models, handling gentle captive animals, and participating in weekly scheduling and in-service meetings. Several full- and part-time positions are avialable. Fall naturalist positions run from late August to December, and spring positions run from mid January to May.
