This 13,000-acre woodland retreat is the fulfillment of the vision of co-founders Cason and Virginia Callaway. Opened in 1952, this beautifully diverse landscape is located along an extensive greenbelt in West Central Georgia on the northern slope of the Pine Mountain Ridge. Here, the 8,500-acre Preserve, the 2,500-acre Gardens, and the 3,000-acre Memorial Forest all offer a wonderful setting for Environmental Education programs.
The Gardens features the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center, the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, and the John A. Sibley Horticultural Center, Mr. Cason's Vegetable Garden, free-flight Birds of Prey, native floral areas, extensive horticultural collections, 13 man-made lakes and over 20 miles of trails.
