Environmental Education in Georgia

Georgia Organics

Georgia Organics envisions a future when every resident has access to fresh, healthy and nutritious food grown by a thriving network of local farmers. Most of our food is now imported from other states and countries, traveling thousands of miles, or is grown here in Georgia with the use of chemicals that threaten our health and environment. Together with consumers and growers, Georgia Organics is building a local and sustainable food system that protects the legacy of small family farms, the health of our families, and the integrity of our air, water, and soil.

News & Information
Southern children consume the lowest amounts of fruits and vegetables, are the most obese, are the most food insecure and engage in the least amount of physical exercise. At the same time, the number of small family farms in the US is in decline. Farm to School (F2S) programs offer a holistic solution to create lifelong mprovements instudent health, establish stable economic markets for farmers, and strengthen community ties. Comprehensive Farm to School programs incorporate food, farm and nutrition education into the 4 C’s: Classroom, Community & Farms, Culinary experiences, and Cafeteria.
