Environmental Education in Georgia

Georgia Project WILD

Project WILD is an interdisciplinary, supplementary environmental education curriculum for all grade levels. Teachers who attend a Project WILD workshop receive two curriculum guides: a Project WILD guide and an Aquatic Project WILD guide. These materials are activity-based materials that teach young people about wildlife and the environment through hands-on learning. Additional advanced workshops introduce teachers to specific wildlife and conservation topics to further their knowledge.

The national program is available in all 50 states and is co-sponsored by the Council for Environmental Education and the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. In Georgia, Project WILD is sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division, the Georgia Chapter of Safari Club International, and the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service.

Staff Development Units (SDU) are available for Project WILD and Advanced Project WILD workshops. This program is administered through the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center. Training is provided throughout the state.
