Chase Street Elementary (CSE) is a historic school in the heart of the Boulevard neighborhood of Athens. It was built in 1922 and was fully renovated in 2007. CSE serves 290 students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade. Before the renovation CSE's outdoor classrooms included picnic tables in a memorial courtyard, a butterfly garden, a pitcherplant bog, vegetable beds, and a native habitat garden. Currently only the native habitat garden remains. The school has an active gardening community that is working hard to bring back the educational areas lost in the renovation.
